Our Reconciliation Action Plan
Viva Energy launched our third Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) in December 2024. Our vision for reconciliation is a nation where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have equal and equitable opportunities, and that our business visibly reflects this aspiration and is enriched by First Nations cultural diversity.
Our Reconciliation Action Plan celebrates First Nations culture, builds respect, and aims to raise cultural awareness through a range of external partnerships and internal programs.
In our third RAP, we’ve focussed on business strengths and will prioritise:
- First Nations employment, primarily within our Convenience and Mobility business. We will track the proportion of our employees who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
- Supporting the reduction of volatile substance misuse by manufacturing and supplying Low Aromatic Fuel under the Federal Government’s National Indigenous Australians Strategy
- Strengthening First Nations relationships for key sites and operations.
- Improving access to community services for First Nations People and supporting First Nations employment through our Community Partnerships.
- Actively engaging our employees to continue to increase understanding and respect for First Nations culture and history.

Partnerships with First Nations
We proudly collaborate with First Nations businesses and community partners to foster and celebrate the rich Aboriginal and Torres Strait history and culture, support economic empowerment through employment, and improve access to community services.
Our First Nations partners include:
Tiwi Ports and Marine
Koorie Heritage Trust
Wathaurong Aboriginal Co-operative
Supply Nation
Suppling Low Aromatic Fuel
Since 2014, Viva Energy has been contracted by the Federal Government to supply up to 40 million litres per year of Low Aromatic Fuel (LAF) to wholesale customers, including service stations, in the northern half of Australia. This supports regions across the Northern Territory, Queensland and Western Australia.
The Federal Government, through the National Indigenous Australians Agency, has a long-term commitment to the supply of LAF as part of the National Indigenous Australians Strategy. Our support has helped reduce volatile substance misuse (also known as petrol sniffing) in regional and remote areas, including some First Nations communities where it has been identified as a concern . Our collaborative efforts aim to enhance the wellbeing of these communities.

Promoting cultural awareness and understanding
We encourage our employees to deepen their understanding of Indigenous cultures through opportunities to improve their cultural awareness, celebrating National Reconciliation Week activities, supporting NAIDOC events, and participating in our partner programs.
