Supporting Victoria’s evolving energy needs
We are exploring projects that will support the evolving energy needs of Victoria and southeast Australia while underpinning the future viability of our Geelong Refinery, which already supplies around 50 percent of Victoria’s fuel needs. The broader Energy Hub vision includes a gas terminal and potentially a solar energy farm, projects to support alternative energies such as renewables and hydrogen, and the development of strategic storage to improve fuel supply security.
These potential projects would:
- Cost effectively bring gas from where it is produced to where it is needed.
- Support the development of alternative energy sources.
- Support renewable power generation and help reduce our refinery’s carbon footprint.
- Help to support existing jobs as well as generate new jobs and economic development in the region.
In addition, the Energy Hub will allow us to build a sustainable operation so we can continue local manufacturing and providing the fuels that motorists need, and Victoria needs in the transport, aviation, industrial and marine sectors, for many years to come.
