Nigel Preston PhD, FIAT

Nigel Preston is the Bitumen Technical Director for Viva Energy Australia based in Melbourne. Nigel co-ordinates technical services and marketing activities for Bitumen customers nationally. Nigel’s expertise covers aspects of work as diverse as customer support, quality control, feedstock management, and product promotion activities.

He also works closely with AAPA on a number of Industry based matters and sits on the AAPA National Technology Leadership Committee.

Nigel joined Shell UK in 1991 as their Asphalt Engineer where he worked throughout the British Isles and was also involved in pan-European research activities with other Shell operating companies. He moved to Shell Australia in April 1998 and subsequently took on responsibilities of Bitumen Technical activities throughout Asia-Pac and the Middle East.

He remains in this role with Viva Energy Australia, and as the key Bitumen Technical Director ensures the advice and support he provides to customers means they can focus on what’s really important – their business.

Nigel is a Fellow of the UK Institute of Asphalt Technology.
