Viva Energy Australia today announced an initial contribution of $500,000 towards supporting farmers and rural communities that have been impacted by fires across Australia.
Farming communities across the country have already suffered through extended drought conditions and are now dealing with devastating fires which in many cases have destroyed properties, livestock, and livelihoods.
Our sympathies go out to everyone that has been affected by these events.
Many of Viva Energy’s regional customers have been directly impacted, so we believe this is an area where we can really help to make a difference to people’s lives and contribute to the rebuilding effort which is so important.
There are two charities which we have decided to support:
- Rural Aid is one of Australia’s largest rural charities who provide financial assistance, hay, water and counselling to farmers in times of drought, flood or fire.
- BlazeAid volunteers help to rebuild fences and other structures that have been damaged or destroyed by floods or fires. They have projects underway or commencing in many of the affected areas.
For Australian’s who are unsure of where or who to donate, we would encourage them to consider supporting either Rural Aid or BlazeAid.
Throughout the disruption caused by bushfires, Viva Energy has worked hard to support fuel deliveries into impacted areas and quarantine fuel at our service stations for emergency services. We have also supported the defence response and provided direct support to customers that are experiencing difficulties as a result of the disaster.
Our thanks also go to the amazing emergency services crews and volunteers who have worked tirelessly over many months in keeping us safe, including assisting refueling efforts into some communities as well as battling these unprecedented events.
As part of our broader volunteer programs, Viva Energy provides paid leave to all employees that are volunteering to support firefighting and relief efforts.
